Happy Easter Frog Families!

We have been busy in our frog class learning all kinds of new things! We learned about Community Helpers, and the wonderful Easter season. We talked about what the word “Community” means, and what makes up a community. Our little friends explored what each type of person in our community does to help us out. We even matched pictures of the helpers with pictures that represent their jobs. This past week we had fun with Easter. We played with “baby chicks” in our science center, and explored what they need to live. We filled Easter Eggs with pom pom balls… this activity helped our fine motor skills with opening and closing the eggs. We’re slowly working towards the proper pencil grasp technique, and developing strength in our hands and fingers. We also read lots of Easter books, some with flaps and doors, and some really cool pop up story books with Easter stories. We rolled golf balls in paint to create the most beautiful Easter Egg pictures. Our caterpillars arrived 2 weeks ago. We have watched our caterpillars for the past couple of weeks, grow and grow. They are now in their cocoons in the butterfly net. Soon they will emerge…

Next week we will explore Insects, and hopefully our butterflies will hatch. We will discuss what the word “Insect” means, and explore some different types of insects. Our sensory table will be filled with some of the most unusual bugs! We will make some beautiful filter art butterflies. These filter butterflies will be made in a 2 -step art process. First we will color the butterflies with markers, and then we will spray them with water to make the colors run for a beautiful tie-dye art piece.

Happy Easter Green Frogs… see you all on Monday!
