Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!  Ms. Missy and I have missed our Blue Whale friends and are looking forward to seeing them again this Thursday, January 3, 2019!

We will begin the new year by learning about bears and winter. Be sure to stop by the classroom to see if you can catch some hibernating bears in our loft “bear cave”! We will finish up the month learning all about outer space!

I wanted to share a few things about a couple of our upcoming events:

We will be having a Teddy Bear Picnic on Wednesday, January 9th.  Please have your child bring their favorite teddy bear (or other stuffed animal) to school on that day.

Also, we will be going on a field trip to the Morehead Planetarium with the Yellow Duck class on Wednesday, January 30th.  We will need a minimum of 5 chaperones for our class, so email me if you are interested.  Additional parents would be great (the more the merrier!) we just need a final adult count by Tuesday, January 22nd, so we can order the correct number of tickets. Unfortunately, siblings will not be allowed and planetarium memberships can not be used for this group field trip.  Thank you for your understanding.

We will be sending home a permission slip and collecting money as the date gets closer, but I want you to know that we will be leaving for the planetarium at 8:30 that morning and returning around noon. We will be traveling to and from the planetarium on a city bus. The price for each student will be $6 and the price for each chaperone or accompanying adult will be $7.  We will be seeing a show called The Little Star that Could.

A few additional reminders and thank you's:

  1. We’d like to wish a big Blue Whale welcome to Nolan Kellum. We are so glad you will be joining our class family!

  2. The preschool will be closed on Monday, January 21st for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

  3. Thank you in advance to Levi H., Quinn, Ava, Thomas C and their families for providing snack this month.

  4. A reminder and thank you to Quinn and her family for providing playdough for the month of January and to Thomas C’s family for providing library books on space later this month.
