May News and Reminders

Dear CCP Families,

Welcome to May (tomorrow)!

If your child will return to CCP next year, have you paid your May 2027 tuition deposit? It is due tomorrow, May 1, 2026, and will be considered late on May 5 at 9:00 am! Thanks for paying your fees on time!

Finance Committee, we will meet briefly at 10:30am on Monday, May 4.

PAC - Our last meeting of 25-26 and our first meeting of 26-27 will take place on May 11 in Ascension Hall. Both groups, please arrive at 7:00pm, park in the church office parking lot, and use the side door into Ascension Hall

As we begin to wrap up our last month of preschool, our special classes will end. We will have our last Music and Chapel on May 13 & 14. The week of May 11 will also be our last lunches for all classes. There will be no lunches on the week of May 18th. All pick-up times that week will be 12:00noon. Please mark your calendars.

Just FYI…I wanted to let you know that I will not be at preschool on tomorrow, Friday (May 1). Our capable staff will keep all things running smoothly! I realized I haven’t taken a day yet, so tomorrow it is!

The photo above displays how far our twos have come this year. At the beginning of the year, many were involved in parallel play where play took place side-by-side, or solitary or onlooker play. This month we are seeing moments of cooperative play. These little Froggies were working to build something together. They were sharing ideas and attempting to contribute to a collaborative project. Cooperative play usually doesn’t show up until much later but with Ms. Linda and Ms. Melissa leading our twos, these Frogs are leaps 🐸and bounds ahead of the rest of the crowd!

Did you know that Christ Church has an After School Program here for all Scroggs Frogs? If your offspring will be attending Scroggs Elementary School next year (or you know someone who will be), contact the church for more information. 919-969-8820 or check out the webpage: Christ Church After School — Christ United Methodist Church. Mr. Steve Case is our fearless leader and does so many wonderful and creative activities.

30th ANNIVERSARY BASH! Join Christ Church on Saturday, May 16th from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for our 30th Anniversary Bash on the Southern Village Green! We'll have a bounce house, games for kids, live music from Bill Moore, Danny Gotham, Now & Then, CUMC Chancel Bells, and Brassisimo!, food available for purchase from Xolos, Al's Burger Shack, and Maple View Ice Cream, and more! Please bring your own chairs to enjoy the food.

Here are a few reminders:

  • If you are returning to CCP next year, then your May 2027 tuition is due on May 1, 2026, and considered late on May 5th at noon. This payment covers May 2027, but is paid this month, almost like a security deposit. (When you set up your bank billpay for tuition next year, you will only set up payment for Sept - April.)

  • SUMMER CAMP - Please remember to register your Ladybug, Duck, or Whale for summer camp. There is just 1 space left. We would like to know who is coming soon so we can order supplies.

I’m sharing two articles with you below on helping children make choices. It’s important to keep preschool children’s choices to very simple decisions like, “Do you want to wear the red shirt or the blue shirt?” or “Would you like milk or water with lunch?” (Dr. Bailey calls this “offering two positive choices.”) Preschoolers should not have the responsibility or pressure of larger decisions, like what time they go to bed, or whether or not they will attend family events, or what they can watch on T.V. They need you to be the parent and set routines and limits. Limits and routines actually offer children a sense of security. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/joyful-parenting/201602/5-guidelines-giving-kids-choices

Peace,

Shelly
