From Easy to Love, Difficult to Discipline, p. 105 - Anxious or overwhelmed children respond better to assertive commands than to choices. Think about a time when you felt overwhelmed. The last thing you wanted to do was make a decision. At such times, clear commands are soothing.” Even for adults, this is true. Soon after my Dad passed, there was a day when my husband said, “Where do you want to eat?” I felt the tears welling up. I couldn’t even make a simple choice of a restaurant! I said, “Please just choose a place for me. I can’t make a choice right now.” At that moment, it felt good to have my husband choose for me. I was grateful.

Enjoy your Spring Break! We will see you back at school on Monday, April 8th.

Easter joy!

Debbie
