Hello CCP Families,
We had our picture days this week and the sweetest smiles are on David Gellatly’s website. Most everyone enjoyed having their picture taken. We had a few who were just not ready to say cheese, but it’s okay because they will get another whack at it again in the spring when we’ll do it again!
Here is a note from David:

What a great bunch of smiles!
Thanks to Shelly and all the teachers for assistance! The galleries will be up through the end of the year, 12/31/26.
ENJOY!

And don’t forget, you are also invited to have a family photo taken on Saturday, Oct. 25. The photos will be outside in the church yard. Click here to sign up.
The next couple of weeks have so many great opportunities for you! Hope you can join us for:

HALLOWEEN - Just for fun, our Duck and Whale classes will parade in costume on the Market St sidewalks on Oct. 29. Parents are invited to walk with us if you’re able. Teachers will give you details.
Our Ladybugs and Frogs will parade in costume indoors around Ascension Hall on Oct. 28 and Oct 29. Parents are invited to stay a few minutes after drop-off to watch if you’re able. Teachers will give you details.
Spirit Days 11/4 & 11/5 - Let’s wear our spirit wear (or you can wear your class color) and show our CCP pride! Please note that last week this said the 3rd and 4th. My bad, and apologies for any confusion!
Please remember we currently have room for 2s, T/Th 3s, and 2 Ducks at CCP! Please send your friends our way. Remember, you are our best marketing source.
MAHJONG ANYONE? Do you know how to play Mahjong, or have you been looking for a fun way to connect with our church community? Christ Church Preschool is hoping to partner with experienced players among our preschool families to host a session or two teaching the game to Christ United Methodist Church families of all ages. Whether you play American or Riichi style, we would love your help introducing this classic game of skill and strategy to beginners across our congregation. If you are interested in lending a hand, sharing your knowledge, or helping organize a game, please reach out directly to Pastor Lee or send an email to lbarnes@christmethodist.org.
Are you missing a shoe? It’s here on top of the Whale cubbies waiting for its “sole-mate”
CONSCIOUS DISCIPLINE MOMENT: “Missing or emerging executive skills are at the root of what we call ‘discipline problems.’ Historically, children have been punished for not having these skills at certain ages. When there is conflict, we can choose to see a misbehaving child OR we can choose to see a child who needs help to learn a skill.”
At CCP, we try to see a child who needs to learn a skill. For example, if a child grabs the red crayon from another child. We use the phrase, “YOU WANTED____” Here’s how it may sound…. You wanted the red crayon. You may not grab. Hold out your hand and say, “May I use the red crayon when you’re finished?” Or for a younger child…. You wanted the red crayon. You may not grab. Hold out your hand and say, “Red crayon, please.”
Cheers to all the skills we are ALL still learning!
Peace,
Shelly
