C'mon Spring!

Hello CCP Families,

We’re already almost halfway into March! How did that happen so quickly? With spring around the corner, maybe send your small humans in with layers of clothing. We go outside unless it’s raining hard and thundering around here 😀. Below is a handy guide to know where we are…

Cant’t wait for the pollening…

CONFERENCES - Thank you for spending time with your child’s teachers this week. I hope you enjoyed seeing what your child has accomplished this year and learning how they function in a group setting. It is often different from what you may see at home!

TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK - March 16th - 20 is our teacher appreciation week. Be watching for an email from your class parent rep for the ways we will make our teachers feel the love ❤️! We want our teachers to know that their hard work, love, and sometimes sleepless nights are seen. Some may want to participate in the group appreciation or may want to do something individually. It takes a village to raise a child and it takes the same village to praise the teacher!

CCP SCHOOL SPIRIT - Let’s have lunch or dinner at AL’s BURGERS, March 18-22! Al's Burgers is excited to support our school this spring. Instead of a "Spirit Night," they are proposing a "Spirit Week" fundraising opportunity. From 3/18-3/22, a customer can bring in a coupon, donate $5 to the school, and receive a "free" burger. The coupons will be in the cubbies on Monday/Tuesday of next week (one per order). Thanks for your support!

SUMMER CAMP - Please remember to register your Ladybug, Duck, or Whale for summer camp. There are just 6 spaces left. We would like to know who is coming by the end of March so we can order supplies.

NEXT YEAR - We have room for 3 students in both of the M/W & T/Th Frogs classes and for 1 student in our 4s class. If you know of friends or neighbors who may enjoy becoming part of the CCP family, please pass this along! Thanks.

March 16 - The CCP PAC will meet on Zoom on Monday, March 16 at 7:30pm. We will present a slate for 26-27 and approve the proposed 26-27 calendar that was sent to PAC members this week. If you would be interested in serving on next year’s PAC, let me or Ashton Blue know and we will plug you in.

  • March 29 - Palm/Passion Sunday Cantata at 9 & 11 am in the Sanctuary.

  • March 29 - Easter Egg Hunt & Cookout! 4pm in the lower parking lot, cookout to follow at 5pm.

  • April 5 - 7am Easter Sunrise Service on the Southern Village Green. 9am Acoustic Easter Service in the Sanctuary. 10am Easter on the Green Service (on the Southern Village Green), and 11am Traditional Easter Service in the Sanctuary.

  • March 30 - April 6 - Spring Break!

  • April 15 & 16 - Spring picture days. We will have both individual and class photos taken. Ducks, M/W/F Ladybugs, and M/W Frogs picture day will be April 15. Whales/ T/Th Ladybugs, and T/Th Frogs will be on April 16.

  • April 22 & 23 - 🎼 Casual music programs in the fellowship hall. Shortly after drop-off on this Wed & Thurs, your child will sing a few songs with their class & Ms. Vicki for an audience of parents and special loved ones in Ascension Hall. So, if your child has music on Wed, then they will sing on Wed. If their music class is on Thurs, then they will sing on Thurs) More details to come…

CONSCIOUS DISCIPLINE MOMENT - Heads up!  Here comes a tiny, but IMPORTANT distinction...... It is critical that you ask, "How do you feel?" instead of saying, "How would that make you feel."  Self-regulation requires children to own their feelings.  Attributing the cause of their feelings to outside situations or people by using "make you" language yields blame and derails the process. ~from Dr. Bailey's Feeling Buddies Curriculum, p. 7

Peace,

Shelly
