REMINDERS:
May 18 & 20- NO LUNCH BUNCH this week- PICKUP is at 12pm M-Th (dismissal is immediately following celebration on Fri.)
Friday, May 22- join us for our graduation celebration! We will only be at school that day from 9-10am. After dropping off in the classroom, we’ll ask you to get a seat in Ascension Hall for our ceremony where we’ll meet you at about 9:15. Following a few quick songs we will all head to the playground (weather permitting) for refreshments & fun. Our fantastic room reps have planned for an ice cream truck & lots of great photo ops during our party 😃 (in the event of rain, we will celebrate in Ascension Hall). Then we must say our goodbyes & head out by 10am so that the Ladybugs can use the playground for their celebration.
YELLOW DUCK NEWS:
These last couple of weeks together are all about celebrating the connections we have made with each other- the friendships we have formed & the growth that each child has made this year.
Our always treasure-hunting crew (most often found hunting for treasures on the playground) hunted for special beads in our huge collection of miscellaneous beads gathered in the sensory table & used them to create jewelry. Then we went on the search for letters hiding throughout the room- first using a recording sheet to match uppercase letters and then matching lowercase to uppercase. Our letter-masters also enjoyed putting on puppet shows for their friends using our letter puppets. We even “hunted” for animals in an eye-spy type story that had us counting by 10s.
Our animal lovers (the beanie baby pets are featured in all types of play almost every day!) enjoyed taking care of the animals in our Animal Shelter loft space & helping to get the animals adopted by their classmates ❤️
We had a blast decorating mortarboard hats to use during our celebration next Friday and took a walk through the village together to celebrate our last Lunch Bunch with a picnic in the Southern Village green. We took advantage of a beautiful windy day to try some kite flying, too (lots of symbolism there…our Ducks spreading their wings and flying 🥺).
We had one final bday celebration- mine : ) - complete with full size donuts! Sorry parents! Thank you all again for making me feel so loved. Birthday hugs from our sweet Ducks are the best gift of all.
Next week we will be re-visiting some of our favorite classroom toys that we haven’t seen for a while and helping to clean up our room for the next group of Yellow Ducks. Involving the children in the process of cleaning & preparing for the next class shifts their focus to being the “big kids” moving up. Each day we remind them of all their accomplishments & assure them that they are ready to go on to new adventures!
We can’t believe the year has gone so quickly!! We will be soaking in every moment next week.
Enjoy your weekend!
