Starting off with some important dates and reminders…
November 11th - SCHOOL CLOSED in observance of Veteran’s Day!
November 23rd - November 27 - Thanksgiving Break - CCP IS CLOSED!
Mark your calendars! On Wednesday, December 17th at 9:30 AM, CCP will be hosting our Preschool Christmas Concert in the Sanctuary. All classes will come together to sing a few Christmas songs and share the story of Christmas. This will be our last day of preschool before Christmas break. Following the program, everyone will head home with their families! More details will be shared as we get closer. We look forward to celebrating with you!
We are a NUT FREE, SESAME FREE, and BANANA FREE classroom! Please check labels to make sure snacks do not contain nuts, sesame, or banana.
Please check your child’s cubby daily for papers.
Check out our photos posted on the website! Use the password CCP-26/27 to enter the parent portal and find the class albums.
Please have all Ladybugs use the stairs, and NOT play on the steep hill next to the stairs. We know (and understand) the temptation over how fun the hill looks to roll, run, or climb down, but we care so much about their safety even when not in our care, and would love your help to reinforce what we have been teaching them about safety.

Onto our week…
What a wonderful week we’ve had in preschool! We made it through the exciting post-Halloween and time change — and we did it with lots of laughter, creativity, and play! The children have been full of energy and imagination, and we’ve loved every minute of it!
This week, we continued to enjoy the beautiful show of colors happening all around us as the leaves change for the season! We brought those gorgeous fall colors into our classroom centers and embraced all things autumn. We even got extra cozy next to our very own campfire for a pretend marshmallow roast! There was so much fun exploring, creating, and learning happening throughout the week.
Our sensory bin was filled wiht all the colors of fall! The children had a wonderful time scooping, raking, gathering, and exploring the colorful materials. They also put their imaginations to work, using sticks to build and create their very own campfires. We loved seeing the different ways they explore materials and turn simple objects into something imaginative.
Our little artists were busy creating all sorts of fall-inspired masterpieces. We used forks as our painting tools to create beautiful campfires, adding real sticks as firewood to bring our artwork to life. The children also had opportunities to express themselves at the easels, where they explored colors, brushstrokes, and their own creative ideas to make some beautiful fall paintings.
On Friday, one group had a particularly fun art experience using aluminum foil as their canvas! With a variety of materials, they experimented with swirling, painting, spreading, and mixing colors across the foil. It was so much fun to see the different textures, patterns, and designs they came up with. We love giving our artists the freedom to explore and create in their own unique ways!
Our fine motor skills were definitely fired up this week! The children practiced their scissor skills by cutting leaves both inside the classroom and outdoors. Whether they were snipping, trimming, or cutting up their colorful leaf collections, they were eager to get their hands on those scissors. We sure do have a group of little ones who LOVE to cut!
We also brought scissors and other fun tools into our Play-Doh center. The children had opportunities to roll, squeeze, flatten, snip, and manipulate the dough while strengthening those little hand muscles and developing coordination. Some children even attempted to try and create the fall pictures and numbers that were on the table. So much important fine motor practice disguised as fun!
Our free-choice creative art area was another busy spot! With fall pictures to color, tape, stickers, hole punches, and a variety of other materials, the children were encouraged to explore and create whatever their imaginations came up with. Some designed unique works of art, while others decided to turn their creativity into bracelets. We love seeing how each child approaches the same materials in such different and imaginative ways.
The dramatic play kitchen was bustling with fall flavor! Our little bakers were busy “baking” pumpkin muffins, cookies, and other tasty fall treats. They loved pretending to scan their ingredients at the “checkout station” before heading off to cook up their creations. It was so sweet watching them cooperate, share ideas, and serve up delicious pretend treats to their friends!
The reading center has been extra cozy this week, filled with all of their familiar fall books that we’ve continued to add to along the way. Their favorite stories seem to be the stories that can be read in song! The Leaves on the TREES by Thom Wiley was a huge hit (sung to the tune “The Wheels on the Bus”). Another story we loved, which was not read in song, was The Little Tree by Loren Long! This was a sweet story that fit well into our fall theme, especially with all the leaf exploration and conversations about seasonal changes.
Our little mathematicians had lots of fun with our Roll & Count game! The children rolled a die, identified the number they landed on, and then counted out that many blocks to build their collections. This was a great way to practice number recognition, one-to-one coorespondance, counting, and matching quantities to numerals. Some kiddos really enjoyed this activity and were excited to roll again and again!
We ended our week with a fun alphabet mystery-box game, and WOW, did our kiddos impress us! The children took turns reaching inside the mystery box, used their sense of touch to describe what they felt, and then pulled out the adorable little toys to match them to their beginning letters. For example, a little bike matched with the letter B. The tiny objects were just too cute, and we were so impressed by how many children recognized not only their letters but their letter sounds, too! Such a fun way to practice early literacy skills.
We had a special celebration for Winnie’s birthday this past Monday! We all enjoyed delicious cupcakes together, and Winnie, along with her mom and dad, shared a wonderful story with the class. There were big smiles all around as we helped her to feel extra loved on her special day. Happy Birthday, Winnie!
This week in Chapel, we learned about Jesus feeding the 5,000. Jesus used five loaves of bread and two fish to feed a crowd of over 5,000 people! With God, even a little can become a lot. The children learned about Jesus’ love, the importance of sharing, and how God provides for us.
In Music and Movement, we practiced for our Christmas concert, and got to move our bodies with some fun balancing and jumping activities.
All in all, it’s been a joyful, play-filled week of learning and laughter. Our Ladybugs are thriving as they explore, imagine, and create together — and we can’t wait to see what the next two weeks of harvest and Thanksgiving bring. Get ready for all things gratitude, cozy, and autumn-inspired!
Wishing you a wonderful weekend with your sweet Ladybugs!
