Earth Day and Dinosaurs

Our week began with Earth Day. We looked at the recycling symbol and talked about what reduce, reuse and recycle means. We sang “If You Want to Save the Earth” and added ways to reduce pollution (turn off lights, etc). We all worked together to create a beautiful tree full of flowers and leaves made from reused materials (thanks for the extra bottle caps, parents!). Some of our friends tried creating blue & green balloon print Earths at the easel, too. We made a discovery….balloons are delicate! It was very surprising (and possibly upsetting to some) when some painted balloons popped right in our hands. However, a good lesson was learned and everyone found that they will be ok even when things don’t go as planned. Finally, we sorted items to be recycled by types of material (metal, glass, plastic, paper).

For the rest of the week we learned about dinosaurs….a HUGE hit with most of the Ladybugs!! We talked about the differences between plant eaters & meat eaters, sorted types of dinosaurs and counted dinosaurs to put in matching numbered eggs. We had fun digging for fossils and making imprints in the kinetic sand in our sensory table, too.

At the easel we painted a stegosaurus and added spikes to create our names.

By the way…..our CATERPILLARS are HATCHING!!!!! We had 2 out of 5 butterflies when we left on Friday, and I’m sure that the rest will be flying around when we come back. Everyone was very excited!

A big thank you goes out to all of our families that came to Preschool Sunday last weekend! I heard that it was a good turnout and the children sang beautifully ❤️ It was wonderful to see so many happy families enjoying dinner at Town Hall Grill, also. Your participation and support is very much appreciated. We have such a wonderful school family!

Parents- You are invited to join your Ladybug at drop off time (between 8:50-9:10) on May 6th (MWF kids) or 7th (T/Th kids) for Pastries with Parents. We will have snacks, photo ops, and gifts for you from your Ladybug. We are looking forward to celebrating YOU!!

Have a wonderful weekend with your not-so-little-anymore Ladybugs!
