Planetarium and Butterflies

Thank you, parents, for joining us on our field trip to the Planetarium.  From the bus, the planetarium show, the weather and the best Blue Whales and Yellow Ducks we could not have asked for a better day.  And I am happy to say when we discussed what we liked about the field trip the Blue Whales did not all just say the bus.  We had many Blue Whales who enjoyed the whole day.  But they all said spending time with their parent was the favorite part of their day.  Just when Ms. Beth and I think this class could not be more wonderful they say something sweet like that.

We blasted off our own Alka Seltzer rockets.  Our launches were all successes and we talked about how the staff at NASA experience ups and downs in their real jobs and in science in general.

Our space unit continued this week.  Everyone is enjoying the imaginary play that is sparking their curiosities and knowledge about space.

The Blue Whales continue to work on their own personal solar system mobiles.  We hope to start assembling them to take home later next week.

We ended up with four butterflies and released them on Wednesday.  They were ready to fly out of our butterfly garden.

We had Guess-n-Tell and Carolina did a great job with three clues about her item and calling on friends to guess her item.  The Blue Whales were able to guess Carolina’s item because of her great clues.

We had fun celebrating Ivy Rose’s and Olivia’s birthdays with their families this week.  They read some great stories and brought some delicious treats to share with the class.  We still have seven more Blue Whales to celebrate over the next three weeks.

Our three Circle Time Leaders this week did a wonderful job. Everyone enjoyed the funny jokes and dancing to some great songs.

May is officially here and the Blue Whales can tell you we only have 12 days left of school, as our mathematician works on subtracting and counting down the days left of school.  Here are some important dates in May for your calendar:

Wednesday, May 15th – last Lunch Bunch

Monday, May 20th – pick up at 12:00 pm (no lunch bunch)

Wednesday, May 22nd – pick up at 12:00 pm (no lunch bunch)

Thursday, May 23rd – Last Day of School

9:30 am End of Year Celebration on playground

Next week we will be talking about space, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.

We are enjoying creating, moving, singing, discussing, observing, reading and playing with our Blue Whale friends.   Hope everyone has a nice weekend.
