Dear CCP Families,
This week we have been winding down in anticipation of our last week of preschool. We have taken time to think about our unique school year - remembering our favorite things, and thinking about what we have learned and how much we have grown! Even if the children aren't consciously aware that this experience is about to end, they somehow sense things changing. Occasionally this will show in behavior. Behavior is communication, so try to be patient and remember all the skills and techniques that we have learned from Conscious Discipline.
We had our last lunch bunch, our last Music & Movement class and our last Chapel time for this year. A huge thank you to Ms. Vicki for all the wonderful music experiences and to Pastor Lee for leading us in meaningful Chapel experiences. Also a huge thanks to our teachers for leading lunch times! Lunch with a group of 3-4 year old children is always an adventure…
We look forward to an end-of-year celebration with you! (Teachers will provide details - PLEASE take time to read their blogs.) It will be a special, relaxed time together with families to acknowledge your child’s progress and friendships! As each class moves on to new adventures, we will continue to hold you in our hearts and wish you well! You will always be a part of the CCP family.
Key Fob reminder - If you will not return next year, please bring all key fobs to pick up on Tuesday or Wed, May 19 & 20, pop them into a small envelope (provided) with your name on it and drop them in my basket. There will be a $10 charge for any keyfob that is not returned. If you are coming back next year, please keep your key fobs to use next school year.
Looking ahead to next school year, we have some spots that we would love to have filled. Here are our numbers: M/W Frogs - 2, T/TH Frogs - 3, T/TH Ladybug - 3, Whales class - 1, Duck class -2. If you know of anyone who love to plug in to our little family, send them our way!
SUMMER CAMP - Please remember to register your Ladybug, Duck, or Whale for summer camp. There is just 1 space left!
30th ANNIVERSARY BASH! Join Christ Church this Saturday, May 16th from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for our 30th Anniversary Bash on the Southern Village Green! We'll have a bounce house, games for kids, live music from Bill Moore, Danny Gotham, Now & Then, CUMC Chancel Bells, and Brassisimo!, food available for purchase from Xolos, Al's Burger Shack, and Maple View Ice Cream, and more! The preschool will be represented too, so drop by and say hello! Please bring your own chairs to enjoy the food.
Finally, I’d like to formally make the announcement that we have a new Music and Movement teacher for next year. Drumroll please…it’s our own Crysta-Anne Weitz, mom to Byron & John, and wife to Will. Crysta-Anne and her family attend Christ Church and you will find her in the church nursery most Sundays. Welcome to our staff family, Crysta-Anne. We are excited to have you join us!
A Conscious Discipline moment…….. You may have come from a background where your parents were a little uncomfortable with emotions and they may have said, "Stop crying. You're fine" or "There's nothing to be afraid of." Conscious Discipline encourages us to be aware of our feelings - Acknowledge them, feel them, and name them. Help your children recognize their feelings and name them. Only then can we move forward. Dr. Bailey tells us in Managing Emotional Mayhem (p.108) "When we allow ourselves to be aware of a feeling, we often attempt to keep it quietly off in the distance. In actuality, befriending our feelings is the only thing that allows them to move on." (Remember, you can continue your journey with Conscious Discipline on the website, www.ConsciousDiscipline.com)
Here comes the final week of preschool, May 18-22, 2025. Embrace it! Take photos! Celebrate all that your child has accomplished! (Remember, no lunches this coming week.)
Peace,
Shelly
