Dear CCP Families,
We've laughed and cried and said good-bye, some off to other adventures, and some to return after summer vacation. Either way, I am so grateful that you are a part of our school family! You will always be part of CCP and hopefully CCP will always be part of you! (The Ducks and MWF Ladybugs will celebrate and say good-bye tomorrow. ) It has been an honor to serve as your preschool director. Thank you for choosing Christ Church Preschool. Thank you to our safekeepers and thank you to our PAC members…you complete our family and we appreciate your guidance and your time.
On Monday, one of our Frog friends strolled into school with a small, beaded purse. It went into her backpack for the duration of the class and then at pick up, she retrieved the purse and I found out that there was a waffle in there. She had a portable breakfast that morning and hadn’t finished it so in the purse it went. She knew she couldn’t eat the waffle in class, so she made the executive decision to stash it in a safe place so she could return to it later. To an adult this may seem unusual (not to mention adorable), but this child figured out the best way possible to solve her breakfast problem. She didn’t ask for help because this year she has been given the opportunity each day to solve problems. So, this summer step back and let your children use the stick to reach something, the chair to become taller, or put a waffle in their purse…
CAMP - If your Ladybug, Duck, or Whale is scheduled to attend summer camp, then we will meet you at 9:00 on Tuesday, June 2 on the lower playground. Please check in with a teacher (Linda, Sue, Lisa, and Carina) when you arrive. (Please remember your lunch, water bottle, & towel. Please put your child’s name on everything!) Pick up is at 1:00 on the little Frog playground. We do still have 1 spot available. If you want it, first come first served!
TEACHER WORKDAYS - Our safekeepers have workdays next week to clean the rooms and close the classes that will not be used for camp. The preschool will also treat them to lunch as a thank you for a terrific year!
2026-27 PLANS - We are already at work making plans for next year. I’ll email details later this summer. Please consider serving as a paid substitute teacher next year. You don’t need any special skills, just a love for working with children and keeping them safe. You would always work with a teaching partner who is familiar with the class. If interested, just send me your name and phone number where we could call or text you. Thanks!
KEY FOBS - Keep your key fob if you are returning next year. If not returning, please bring your key fob to Ms Shelly or Ms Jen if you haven’t already. Otherwise there is a $10 fee for each key fob that is not returned.
Looking ahead to next school year, we have some spots that we would love to have filled. Here are our numbers: M/W Frogs - 2, T/TH Frogs - 3, T/TH Ladybug - 3, Whales class - 1, Duck class -2. If you know of anyone who love to plug in to our little family, send them our way!
Lastly, if you need a break from the heat this summer, this is the perfect place to cool off…
A tip from Creating the School Family, p. 83……To actively compose yourself, Conscious Discipline offers a three-step process:
Be a S.T.A.R. Take 3 deep breaths before you begin to speak.
Affirm to yourself, “I’m safe. Keep breathing. I can handle this.”
Wish well. Open your heart to the moment, recognize the child is calling for help and wish him/her well.
Use this anytime your child (or anyone!) starts to “push your buttons.” Remember, the adult must compose first for the child to be able to compose himself. The child cannot be in a higher brain state than the adult.
