HALLOWEEN PARADE on Thursday, OCT., 29TH- We hope you can join us for our Halloween Costume Parade around Southern Village. Please send your child to school in their costume and drop them off at the classroom at our usual 9:00 a.m. The Yellow Ducks will meet families outside in front of the church at 9:25 a.m. and start our parade with the Blue Whales class. Families are welcome to dress up too. Please help your child change out of their costume after the parade before you leave. If you are OK with them wearing their costume all day (and they will be able to move & function) that is fine too, but we will be our normal messy selves and play outside that day. We will party with the children in our classroom with treats & activities after the parade. You will be receiving more info on how to contribute to our party from our room reps. We appreciate your help!
Spirit Days- 11/4 - Let’s wear our spirit wear (or you can just wear yellow) for a picture together on Wed., 11/4 and show our CCP pride! Please note that last week this said the 3rd and 4th. OOPs…apologies for any confusion!
November 11- SCHOOL CLOSED for Veteran’s Day
November 23-27th- SCHOOL CLOSED for Thanksgiving
YELLOW DUCK NEWS
There was so much fun & learning this week (mixed in together), I don’t know where to start. So I think I will share our week in pictures!
We read 3 stories this week that are wonderful for expanding literacy skills through repetition & sequencing. After reading Room on the Broom the children were encouraged to make their own storytelling sheet at the writing table. After reading The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything we retold the story using felt pieces as we incorporated the movements. We also read and then listened to the audio version of Big Pumpkin multiple times. It’s my favorite…don’t be surprised if your child starts sing “well they pulled & they tugged & they pulled!…”!! Here’s a link to it on YouTube: https://youtu.be/QpLK8AWsVMA?si=5ECgqYL3eXe21wMI
We matched upper & lower cases in the pumpkin patch and using our new invisible ink pens (thank you Smith family!!).
We worked our large motor skills in a movement game with Miss Crysta-Anne in music class. And used our fine motor skills to thread beads on spider legs and cut crazy monster hair.
We had a number hunt in the room & then sorted them & noticed how numbers can be represented in different ways. We counted & stirred the ingredients in cauldrons to make Witch’s Brew at the sensory table.
And we had lots of creative fun serving up Mexican food at our Taco Truck and dressing in costumes!
Everyone is very excited about Halloween coming next week. I believe we are starting our week with a full moon, too. Hold on to your hats everyone! We might be in for a wild week 🤣 🎃
Enjoy your weekend!
