Everything was rainbows & sunshine in the Ladybug room this week! 🌈 ☀️
We learned about the primary colors and practiced mixing them to create more colors. Everyone loved painting at the easel and with watercolor paints to create orange, green, purple, browns and grays. We read a Peter H. Reynolds series of books about art that included The Dot, Ish, and Sky Color. The theme of these books is creative self-expression and stresses that there is no RIGHT way to do art, and art does not have to be perfect.
After playing with our larger lacing letters the Ladybugs were sad that they couldn’t take them home, so they were very happy to see rainbow and letter beads at the round table this week for making necklaces that they could keep! We saw some patterning happening and many friends finding the letter beads to make their names.
For science, we watched crystals grow on a pipecleaner rainbow that Miss Jenn made and then the MWF friends grew their own crystals. We used a magnifying glass to examine crystals in a geode. We also had fun adding hot water to Skittles and watching a Skittles Rainbow grow!!
Both classes contributed to making a rainbow collage mural, too.
We had a special visit from Eden’s dad who came to teach us about yet another community helper this Wednesday. He is an officer in the Army National Guard! Everyone had a chance to try his helmet on (wow it was heavy!!) and saw pictures of the giant aircraft that carry trucks to army bases. He gave everyone a sticker representing his unit. Thank you for your visit and your service, Josh!!
And finally we had FOUR birthday celebrations this week!!!! Wow!! Happy Birthday to Charlie, Wesley, Oli and Jackson!!
Remember: We will have our Easter Egg Hunts on Wed, 3/27 & Thurs., 3/28. Please bring 6 plastic eggs pre-filled with non-candy trinkets (stickers/ party favor type stuff) by March 26th. The eggs will be combined and then hidden for all the children to find. They will each bring home 6 eggs in the “baskets” we are making at school. Thank you!

Preschool Sunday is on April 21st! Please bring your child to join in singing the songs they have learned in music and chapel to the Christ Church congregation.
