Quote of the Week
“We need to show them how to fly.” -- Some Blue Whales’ sentiments when we were releasing the butterflies and they would not fly out of the butterfly garden.
Worms called our classroom home this week and the Blue Whales loved studying, measuring and playing with them.
We read a book from a child’s and ant’s perspective and the children had to decide for themselves whether you should squish an ant or not. We learned about what makes a bug an insect. You may have heard your child singing head, thorax, abdomen. I know it is stuck in my head.
We ended up with four butterflies and released them on Thursday. It was a very exciting release. A few of the butterflies hung around and some of the Blue Whales got to hold them and see them up close. We also released our worms.
Lasagna noodles were our canvas this week and the Blue Whales painted uncooked lasagna noodles. After the paint dried the children broke them and created mosaic masterpieces.
We had Guess & Tell and Barrett did a great job with three clues about his item and calling on friends to guess the item. The Blue Whales were able to guess Barrett’s item because of his great clues. The Blue Whales thought they were guessing the picture in the envelope and then Barrett’s mom surprised us with his real cat, Kali.
The Blue Whales solved the mystery of the missing lollipops and found them all this week.
Our three Circle Time Leaders this week did a wonderful job.
May is officially here and the Blue Whales can tell you we only have 12 days left of school, as our mathematician works on subtracting and counting down the days left of school.
We are enjoying creating, moving, singing, discussing, observing, reading and playing with our Blue Whale friends. Hope everyone has a nice weekend.
